Never in my life have I seen such a puzzling and inappropriate letter in a Veterans Day Sun Journal edition as Judson R. Duncan’s letter headlined “Civil War” (Nov. 12).

The letter writer apparently is unable to accept the outcome of our most recent election.

Nor does he know that we are at war with the most vicious and brutal enemy this country has ever faced since the Nazis of Adolf Hitler and Soviet Communism.

The highjackers of the Muslim religion – the Islamo-fascists – have vowed to kill all Americans, Jews and infidels.

These murderous thugs and barbarians declared war on the United States on Sept. 11, 2001.

But, Mr. Duncan writes, “As a nation, we don’t know with whom we are at war.”

But wait, it is getting even worse – his words: “The worst mistake the North ever made was not letting the South secede in 1860. Maybe if we told them that they finally won, they would just go away. This would leave us with a more educated, wealthier and more progressive country.”

What an insult to our brave military men and women from the South who have served and are serving their country, many of them having given their all, so that we may live in freedom and liberty in this great, decent and amazing country, as President George W. Bush called it in one of his recent speeches.
