DENNIS, Mass. (AP) – Three juveniles face possible arson charges in connection with a series of car fires on Cape Cod, which has seen 14 suspicious fires in the past month.
It’s the first break for police investigating whether the arsons are related. Dennis Police Chief Michael Whalen said it’s too early to determine if the juveniles are responsible for other fires.
“The investigation is by no means over and will continue,” Whalen said in a news release.
Whalen would not release the juveniles’ names, ages, gender or hometowns. He would not specify the charges, or the number of car fires involved.
The Cape Cod Times reported that at least two juveniles were questioned Saturday and charged with arson at 9 p.m. Saturday.
No serious injuries have been reported in any of the blazes, which have damaged cars and buildings from Mashpee to Brewster.
