DURHAM – Geraldine Sawyer Guenther, 92, of Newall Brook Rd. Durham, died at the Amenity Manor Nursing Home Saturday, Dec. 4.

She was born in Lisbon Falls on Sept. 16, 1912, the daughter of Pearly and Meta Bulick Sawyer. She was educated locally, and was a graduate of Lisbon High School.

In December of 1929, she married Otis Guenther and settled in Durham to raise their family. She was a homemaker and mother to her five children, and past member of the Eureka Grange in Durham.

Her interests included gardening, knitting and crocheting, playing bingo, and cherishing each moment spent with her family.

Survivors include her sons, Gerald Guenther, and his longtime companion, Dorothy Rowe, of Greene, and Walter Guenther of Williston, Vt.; three daughters, Patricia Pinette and her husband, Francis, of Durham, Marlene Ward and husband, Frederick, of Harpswell, and Idolyne Sherwood of Oak Hill, Fla. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Otis, in 1962; her brother, Ralph Sawyer, in 1990; and one granddaughter, Phillis Ward Yanok, in 1996.
