I would like to expose some issues regarding the recent election after continually reading letters to the editor or editorials by the staff at the Sun Journal.

Here are some reasons why I believe President Bush was re-elected for a second term: It was the first time since public opinion polls have been taken that more Republicans voted than Democrats; his platform of pre-emptive military action in the war on terror; the exportation of liberty backed by the projection of American military power; tax cuts; reforming the tax code and Social Security reform.

The president increased his share of the vote among women, Hispanics, older voters, Catholics and Jews, and, yes, he also increased his vote among non-regular churchgoers more than among churchgoers.

And for a few reasons why Democrats lost the election: Perhaps it was parading Michael Moore at the Democratic Convention or George Soros spewing his hate over his Air America Network, or maybe it was Dan Rather’s untrue story about the president.

There are a few certainties that arose from this election, and they are that Republicans control the presidency, the House of Representatives, the United States Senate, 28 state governorships and 21 state legislatures.

The Democratic platform was defeated by 59 million Americans because they used the wrong people to deliver their message.
