• Eric S. Tidswell, 28, of Rumford, on charges of operating after suspension and violation of bail conditions related to a previous operating after suspension charge, at 11 p.m. on Dec. 6 on Route 2. He is to be arraigned on Jan. 4 in Rumford District Court.

Incidents

• Dec. 6, 6:15 a.m. – Management at the Hotel Harris reported that glass in a front door had been broken overnight. No damage report was listed.

• Dec. 6, 8:54 p.m. – Icy road conditions caused Lee Smith, 21, of Manchester, N.H., to lose control of his 1991 Honda on a curve. The car crashed into a mailbox and landed in a ditch. He was uninjured, but his car sustained an estimated $1,500 damage; the mailbox, $50.

• Dec. 4, 3:35 p.m. – A Franklin Street resident reported that someone had scratched her vehicle while it was parked in a church lot. Damage was estimated at $500.

• Dec. 3, 4:30 p.m. – A young man reported that someone had stolen his snowboard from the porch of his residence. The board is valued at $350.

• Dec. 3, 3:20 p.m. – Icy road conditions caused Joshua Cyr, 18, of Rumford, to lose control of his 1997 Chevy Malibu in Rumford’s Virginia section. The car slid through the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Raymond Street, striking a guardrail. Damage to the car was estimated at $2,500.

• Dec. 3, 9:17 a.m. – Icy road conditions caused David Dow, 18, of Rumford, to crash his 1996 Buick into a stop sign at Maine Avenue and Pine Street. Damage to the car was estimated at $1,000.

• Dec. 3, 8:20 a.m. – A 1993 Nissan Ultima driven by Jennifer Lee, 22, of Dixfield, struck a guardrail on Routes 2 and 5 due to weather conditions. The car sustained an estimated $1,000 damage.

• Dec. 3 – Police are again urging residents to lock their vehicles at night after a rash of car burglaries and thefts. Sgt. Tracey Higley said that the majority of cars struck recently by thieves were unlocked.

A wallet containing cash, food stamps and identity cards was reported stolen from a car parked on Erchles Street.

Three dollars in change was taken from the ashtray of a car parked on Holyoke Avenue.

A cellphone was taken from another vehicle, also on Holyoke Avenue.

A bookbag with books and a GoreTex coat valued at $300 were stolen from two vehicles parked on Pine Street.

Two cellphones were taken, one each from cars parked on Spruce Street.

A compact disc carry case valued at $15 and $30 worth of home-made burnt compact discs were reported stolen from a car parked on Lincoln Avenue.

Police believe the thefts to be related.

Summonses

The following are to be arraigned on Jan. 4 in Rumford District Court:

• Christopher McElmurry, 40, of Andover, on a charge of attempting to acquire drugs by deception at Rumford Hospital, on Dec. 6.

• A 17-year-old Greenwood girl and a 16-year-old Rumford girl, on charges of possession of tobacco products, at 2:25 p.m. on Dec. 4 on Congress Street.
