Susan Collins has, by leading the way to totally gut the immigration enforcement provisions passed by the House in HR10, demonstrated her total disregard for the welfare and security of the American people.

HR10 strengthens the Border Patrol and makes it more difficult for terrorists to obtain state driver’s licenses, use the banking system and otherwise function unhindered within American society. The 19 Sept. 11 hijackers had a total of 63 driver’s licenses among them. Any rational person would want to correct that.

Not Susan Collins!

The Collins-Lieberman “Senate Intelligence Bill” creates a national intelligence director and a national counterterrorism center which, without the HR10 immigration enforcement provisions, amounts to nothing more than hapless bureaucracies consuming more tax dollars.

Congressmen Sensenbrenner and Hunter and Speaker of the House Hastert recognized this sham and prevented passage of the deformity. For this they were unfairly chastised by the media and the Senate conferees led by Sen. Collins.

The Sept. 11 commission has the respect and support of the American people. The House bill included its recommendations, especially its immigration enforcement provisions. That is why HR10 is called the House 911 Commission Recommendations Implementation Act.

The Senate, under Susan Collins, stripped away the immigration enforcement provisions of the House bill, thereby forcing the stall. The Sept. 11 commission and the House are looking out for us; Susan Collins and the Senate are looking out for cheap labor lobbies, open borders enthusiasts, ethnic activists and the Mexican government.

It’s outrageous and shameful.
