FARMINGTON – More than 2,000 doses of flu vaccine have recently been received by the four Pine Tree physician practices in Farmington: Pine Tree Family Practice, Pine Tree Internal Medicine, Pine Tree Pediatrics and Pine Tree Women’s Care.

“Any of our patients who are in a high-risk group and haven’t received a call from us yet should call their physician’s office to make an appointment,” said Leslie Hawkins, the group’s administrator.

The highest-risk groups include people 65 years old or older, people of any age who have chronic health conditions such as diabetes and asthma or have weakened immune systems, residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities, children 6 months old through 23 months, pregnant women, health-care workers involved in direct patient care, and out-of-home caregivers of infants younger than 6 months old, according to the group.

The Maine Department of Health and Human Services confirmed last week that flu has been diagnosed in Maine for the first time this season.
