PARIS – A Mexico man was convicted on theft-related charges Wednesday in Oxford County Superior Court.
Shane M. Richard, 19, pleaded guilty to a charge of theft and a charge of attempted theft.
Judge Ellen Gorman sentenced him to seven days in the county jail, but stayed execution to 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7. Richard was also fined $400.
The attempted theft charge stemmed from the May 24 burglary of a Rumford resident’s car; the theft charge, from a burglary of another Rumford resident’s car, in which Richard allegedly took a Craftsman headlight, a Leatherman tool, and rolled coins.
Richard was initially charged with three felony counts of burglary to a motor vehicle on May 24, and the misdemeanor theft and attempted theft charges.
However, the burglary charges were dismissed in return for a guilty plea to the misdemeanors.
