BETHEL – Owners of properties that resemble junkyards or are junkyards have until May 31 to correct violations, selectmen said Monday night.
The board agreed to have the town lawyer write letters to the owners of the offending properties, which were determined to be potential nuisances or junkyards or both.
Non-compliance means the town will take offenders to court on June 1. From that point, there will be no turning back, Town Manager Scott Cole said.
In other business, selectmen executed a quitclaim deed in release of $2,603.33 in sewer bills and liens.
The board also tabled a matter that sought conveyance of a utility easement in the vicinity of the town garage, and took no action on a request to amend the formula for Tri-Town allocation of solid waste costs.
