MONMOUTH – The Monmouth Community Players will hold auditions for “Jekyll & Hyde, The Musical,” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, and 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, in the music room of Monmouth Academy. Actors should be prepared to sing a selection from this show or another selection.

An accompanist will available so auditioners can bring sheet music with them.

The cast includes three leads, several secondary characters and a strong and active choral section.

“Jekyll & Hyde” is based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic story about a brilliant doctor whose experiments with human personality create a murderous counterpart. Dr. Henry Jekyll unwittingly unleashes his own dark side, wreaking havoc in the streets of late 19th century London in the form of the savage, maniacal Edward Hyde.

“Jekyll & Hyde” includes the songs “This is the Moment” and “Someone Like You.” The show features Dr. Jekyll; his sympathetic fiancee, Emma; and Lucy, a woman he rescues from a life of sin who later succumbs to Mr. Hyde.

Lucy Rioux returns to Cumston Hall and the Monmouth Community Players as guest director.
