LIVERMORE – Friends of Kevin and Laurie Cullen are putting on a benefit supper Saturday to help with travel and medical expenses.
Kevin Cullen, who was diagnosed with cancer three months ago, travels to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston for treatment.
The Cullens and their two daughters moved from California to Livermore two years ago when they bought the Maple Lane Inn and Golf Course.
Kevin is the golf professional and his wife the inn manager. They have made many improvements to the property. The husband and wife team are both educators as well.
The Cullens have been active in the community such as holding benefit golf tournaments and sponsoring the Livermore Falls golf team by allowing team members to play free of charge.
The trips to Boston and the medical treatment are costly, said Brenda Stewart, a club member and a friend of the Cullens.
Members and friends are putting on the supper to help defray those costs, she said.
