WATERFORD – The Waterford Library board of trustees announces that Dorthe Hillquist has begun her work as a part-time professional librarian.

Her first task is to catalogue the Maine Collection, which is housed on the second floor of the library, known as the Flora Abbott Reading Room. The availability of the collection will be announced when the work is complete.

Hillquist is bringing her professional presence and advice to the library board meetings as well. Until her recent retirement, she was the library director at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. She received her master’s degree from the Simmons School of Library Science and was employed at the Harvard Law Library as a cataloger for several years.

The library will continue to rely on the volunteers who staff the circulation desk. Ian Truman, the library tenant and custodian, continues to be responsible for scheduling and training volunteers. He may be reached at the following number: 583-2050 or 583-2462.
