WEST PARIS – A Veterans Day parade was held Nov. 11 at West Paris followed by a ceremony at Veteran’s Memorial Park, corner of Main and Maple streets.

Band music was provided by Lisa Whitney. Junior majorettes paraded behind the sound car. Pastor Lloyd Waterhouse gave the invocation and closing prayer. Pack 133, Cub Scouts, and Troop 133, Boy Scouts, marched and gave verbal tributes to those in Iraq.

Cleo Ryerson gave a Veterans Day prayer written years ago by her husband, Emery Ryerson. Walter Inman Jr., home from Iraq, was the grand marshal, riding in a red convertible driven by Ray Brown.

Inman read Gen. James Middleton’s “A Soldier’s Prayer.” Bertha DeHaas gave a verbal tribute to Ida and Howard Gurney, Ray Fowler, the servicemen in Iraq and Inman.

Cleo Ryerson placed a wreath on the Veteran’s Monument. Waterhouse gave the closing prayer, then all joined hands in a circle to sing “God Bless America.”
