Editor’s note: Every day there are rays of light that shine into the lives of people through their neighbors, their co-workers, their families and even through complete strangers. This column is devoted to exposing these sunbeams to the light and offering readers an opportunity to share good news. We plan to occasionally offer up our own sunbeams, too.
Luncheons now ended

It is with deepest regret that I am unable to continue to do the “Loaves and Fishes Luncheons” as a missionary project to the local food closet by the Trinity United Methodist Church in Farmington. It has been a pleasure to have served the many who faithfully attended and on behalf of the church, I would like to thank each and every one for their support and contributions. We will miss the fellowship it provided with friends and neighbors.

A special thanks to those “helpers” who volunteered their energy, time and talents to make this a successful adventure during the past seven years.

I wish also to thank the local news media for kindly providing weekly announcements about the event.

May the Lord bless each of you always with his love.

Helping hand

About the waiting line for flu shots, I arrived around noon.

As I opened the doors to go in the hospital a girl gave me a paper. I asked her how could I stay in line the way I was. Another girl had a folding wheelchair. She said, “Sit in here and I will push you.”

She put me in line and told me to wait there for her. While waiting, this nice gentleman coming towards me, looked at me and stood in back of me. The girl came back and asked my name, etc. Then she started to push me, and the handsome gentleman said, “That’s OK, I’ll push her.”

We went through the line and got the shot.

The man asked to bring me home. I hesitated, but my inner voice told me to go ahead.

On the way home, I talked about my husband. I told the man that I had him for 47 years. To me, he was and still is my angel. But as far as this gentleman, I feel he is an angel on Earth. I want to thank him. May God be with him always.

Successful dinner

Without the donations, support and volunteers from the communities in the greater Farmington area, the Thanksgiving dinner at Mt. Blue High School, sponsored by the Scottish Rite Masons, would not have been the success it was.

We wish to extend our sincere thanks to all.

Prayers and support

We wish to express our great appreciation and thanks to those many family, friends and loved ones of those who are serving, and have served, in the military over in the Middle East. With them go our prayers and deepest affection, wishing each and every one a blessed Christmas.

May God transform their hearts, and grant them the peace that comes through his providence and love. Their presence gives us much to be thankful for and consider through each of our military heroes, home and abroad.

God bless them, and may we remain united in considering how fortunate and blessed we all are during this Christmas season.

Angels

Today I went to a secondhand store with my children. My son needed a new winter jacket, and I wanted to see what they had.

We were looking at the Christmas section, about to make our way to the coats, when a man I didn’t know approached me, explaining that he had bought a winter coat for his grandson and it didn’t fit. He was looking for someone to give it to. I replied that was the reason I had come to the store – for a winter coat for my son.

He told me the coat was in his car and he would bring it in for my son to try on. It was a perfect fit.

I thanked him and he left. I stood there a moment in awe and amazed. I, myself, don’t believe in coincidences. I believe things happen for a reason.

At the Christmas section, I picked out an angel ornament. The date of the ornament was stamped 1993, the year my son was born.

Being a believer in angels, I believe I met an “Earth angel.”

I didn’t even get his name. I just want to say thank you.
