PHILADELPHIA – Allen Iverson scored a season-high 40 points and Marc Jackson had 20 of his season-high 28 points in the fourth quarter, leading the Philadelphia 76ers to a 107-101 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday.
Kenny Thomas had 20 points and 17 rebounds, and Iverson had 10 assists, helping Philadelphia win its second straight game after losing six in a row.
Michael Redd had 28 points and Desmond Mason added 21 for Milwaukee, which has lost 10 of 13.
Jackson put back his own miss to give the Sixers a 100-98 lead with 1:45 left. He made a free throw to put Philadelphia ahead 101-98 with 1:32 remaining.
After a pair of free throws by Mason cut it to 101-100 in the final minute, Jackson made two free throws. Kyle Korver and Thomas iced it with two free throws apiece.
Iverson went more than nine minutes without making a shot, before his driving layup gave the Sixers a 94-92 lead with 4:39 left. He added a jumper to make it 96-92, capping a 9-0 run.
After Jackson made two free throws, Kendall Gill hit a 3-pointer to tie it at 98.
Iverson has scored 40 or more points 58 times, including playoffs, in his nine-year career. The Sixers are 40-18 in those games.
Iverson shot 16-of-33, and made all eight of his free throws.
Neither team led by more than five points after the first quarter until the final seconds.
Heat 106, Raptors 98
TORONTO – Shaquille O’Neal had 20 points and Dwyane Wade added 20 points, nine rebounds and six assists as the Miami Heat won their fourth straight, 106-98 over the struggling Toronto Raptors.
Damon Jones added 16 points for the Heat, who are unbeaten since he became a starter.
Miami stepped up its defense in the fourth quarter as Toronto went 6-for-20 from the field with five turnovers.
The Heat outscored the undersized Raptors 52-26 in the paint.
Jalen Rose scored 25 points for the Raptors, who have lost seven straight and 15 of 18. Vince Carter is on the injured list with a strained left Achilles’ tendon, and Toronto hasn’t won a game without him since January 2003.
Trail Blazers 98, Jazz 88
PORTLAND, Ore. – Zach Randolph had 23 points and seven rebounds to help the Portland Trail Blazers defeat the Jazz 98-88, avenging an overtime loss in Utah two nights earlier.
The Blazers led by as many as 11 points, but the Jazz narrowed the gap and even took a short-lived lead late in the third quarter before Portland seized control.
Darius Miles, who missed the trip to Utah because of a bruised heel, helped spark Portland’s comeback with a dunk that gave the Blazers a 73-70 lead early in the fourth quarter. Joel Przybilla’s bank shot to beat the shot clock pushed the lead to 10, 82-72.
Derek Anderson and Damon Stoudamire each added 15 points for the Blazers.
Raja Bell had 21 points for the Jazz, who lost their fourth straight on the road. Matt Harpring added 19 and Mehmet Okur had 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Wizards 88, Hornets 69
WASHINGTON – Antawn Jamison and Brendan Haywood each scored 17 points to lead the Washington Wizards to an 88-69 victory over the Hornets, the 10th straight loss for New Orleans.
Gilbert Arenas added 16 points, six assists and a season-high six steals for the Wizards, who have won nine of 11.
Reserves Junior Harrington and Dan Dickau each scored 14 points to lead the Hornets, who committed 33 turnovers that the Wizards converted into 30 points. Washington had a season-high 20 steals.
Kwame Brown returned to the Wizards after serving a one-game club suspension, finishing with six points and four rebounds in 20 minutes. He was suspended for refusing to join the huddle during a timeout.
The Wizards opened the fourth period with a 9-2 run, capped by Larry Hughes’ layup for a 75-55 lead with 9:10 left. The Hornets had used a 14-2 run at the end of the third quarter, capped by Harrington’s three-point play, to make the game close.
Knicks 107, Nuggets 96
NEW YORK – Jamal Crawford scored 31 points and Stephon Marbury added 25 as the Knicks’ starting backcourt combined for 50 more points than their Denver counterparts in New York’s 107-96 victory over the Nuggets.
Crawford scored 17 points in the third quarter alone, and Marbury had 11 assists to help New York win for just the second time in six games and snap the Nuggets’ four-game winning streak.
Denver, making the third stop of a seven-game, 11-day road trip, lost for only the second time in 10 games against Eastern Conference opponents.
Carmelo Anthony scored 26 points, and ex-Knick Marcus Camby added a season-high 21.
points and 14 rebounds. Starting guards Greg Buckner (four points) and Andre Miller (two points) shot a combined 3-for-10.
Miller and Anthony each had seven of Denver’s 22 turnovers.
Crawford was 11-for-19 from the field and Marbury was 10-for-18, and Allan Houston played at home for the first time this season and scored nine points on 3-for-11 shooting in 17 minutes off the bench.
Kurt Thomas added 10 points and 18 rebounds for the Knicks, who made it through their first 20 games with a 10-10 record – exactly the benchmark team president Isiah Thomas set during training camp.
The Knicks took the lead for good midway through the second quarter and found themselves with a 49-44 halftime lead despite allowing the Nuggets a half-dozen dunks.
Crawford enabled the Knicks to get their lead up to double digits by scoring 12 points in the first 5:20 of the third quarter, and he was so sure of his stroke that he began running back downcourt as his third-3-pointer of the period was still in the air.
The shot dropped through the net for a 70-56 lead, and the Knicks stayed comfortably ahead until Denver used an 8-0 run early in the fourth quarter to pull to 88-82.
Marbury answered with a short jumper, Camby missed a layup and Crawford was fouled on a 3-point attempt with a second on the shot clock. Crawford then drove around Rodney White for a hanging layup that turned into a three-point play to make it 95-84, and Denver never threatened the rest of the way.
