PARIS – A Denmark man has promised to testify against his former roommates in return for a suspended jail sentence on reduced drug charges.

James D. Monson, 45, pleaded guilty Wednesday in Oxford County Superior Court to charges of trafficking in marijuana and marijuana cultivation. He got 18 months on the trafficking charge, and six months on the cultivation charge, but both sentences were suspended.

Under the terms of his two-year probation, Monson agreed to testify against Agostino Samson and Beverly Commoss. The couple and their four-year-old daughter were living with Monson at his father’s 472 West Main St. house when police raided the home on March 31.

Police seized from the home 16 marijuana plants from two concealed grow rooms, 5 pounds of processed marijuana, scales, six bundles of cocaine and paraphernalia used to make crack cocaine. In addition, $482 in cash was found on Samson.

All three were arrested after the raid. Monson was originally charged with trafficking and possession of cocaine, but those charges were dismissed in the plea-bargain arrangement.

Samson was charged with felony aggravated trafficking in both cocaine and marijuana, based on his previous conviction in Maine on felony drug crimes. When he was busted in Denmark, he had recently completed a four-year prison term on the drug crimes.

Samson’s case was recently continued after his lawyer made a motion to suppress evidence gathered in the case.

Commoss faces marijuana and cocaine trafficking charges. Her case is scheduled to be heard next March.
