LEWISTON – To help local homeless citizens reconnect with their families and friends this holiday season, one phone company is offering free calls.

Through its Homeless Outreach Phone Effort program, U.S. Cellular will provide wireless phones at the Hope Haven shelter on Lincoln Street. Associates will help individuals place free local or long-distance phone calls to friends and loved ones anywhere in the continental United States.

U.S. Cellular associates will be at the shelter on Lincoln Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 15.

“U.S. Cellular is proud to provide homeless individuals of Lewiston with the opportunity to call their families and friends free of charge during the holidays,” said Jim Holmes, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in New England.
