On behalf of the members of the Maine Turnpike Authority, I would like to express thanks and admiration to city officials from Auburn and Lewiston for their outstanding presentations and hospitality during our recent public meeting at Auburn Hall.

Several times each year, our board of directors travel to a community served by the turnpike for a regular monthly meeting. Nowhere have we encountered more enthusiasm and determination to improve the local economy and transportation system than in the Twin Cities.

We enjoyed and benefited from discussions with the mayors of both cities, city managers, council members and regional and city planners. Sharing time with these leaders made it abundantly clear why so many great things are happening in the Twin Cities. The citizens of Auburn and Lewiston have reason to be proud of the people working for them.

Paul E. Violette, executive director, Maine Turnpike Authority, Portland
