NEW GLOUCESTER – Dexter Albert Maddocks, 50, of New Gloucester, died Sunday, Dec. 12, at his home.

He was born in Portland on June 17, 1954, the son of H. Warren Maddocks Jr. and Beverly Ann Reed Maddocks.

He graduated from Bonny Eagle High School in 1972.

He served in the U.S. Navy for two years of active duty and two years in the reserves as a fireman on the U.S.S. Spiegal Grove.

He was employed by H.B. Fleming Inc. in South Portland as a crane operator. He was previously employed by Callahan Bros. of Mechanic Falls.

He was a past Master Mason of Cumberland Lodge No. 12 in New Gloucester.

He was a loving and generous husband and father, who had a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed the outdoors, cultivating the garden and planting young trees. He spent many hours in the workshop metal fabricating, as well as working on carpentry projects. He enjoyed automobiles and regularly watched NASCAR racing.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela S. Vigeant-Maddocks, of New Gloucester; his daughter, Abby C. Maddocks of New Gloucester; sisters, Judith Cohen of Hernando, Fla., and Jeanne Biden of Poland; a stepsister, Lori P. Jackson of Hollis; a brother, H. Warren Maddocks III of Limington; four nieces; three nephews; and his dearest friend, Walter “Skip” Benson of North Anson.

He was predeceased by a brother, Donald B. Maddocks.
