SUMNER – Sumner selectmen will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. today to discuss the Oxford County Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan prior to adoption. Selectmen will hold their regular business meeting at 7:15 p.m. More information may be obtained by calling 388-2866.

Veterans’ advocate

PARIS – The veterans’ advocate will not be at the Maine Veterans’ Home on Wednesday, Dec. 15. The next visit will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Jan. 5.

These visits are for the benefit of the South Paris area veterans, their dependents and survivors.

Grief support

BRIDGTON – Trained volunteers will work with Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice to offer grief support to the region. Included will be sessions titled “Grief During the Holidays” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, and “General Support for Grief During the Holidays” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at the Bridgton Community Center.

These workshops are free and open to all who have suffered a loss and wish to find support in managing their frequent painful memories, often expanded during the holiday seasons. Open house

NORWAY – The Norway Downtown Revitalization will host a holiday open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at Fare Share Commons on Main Street. NDR would like to thank all the volunteers, donors, local residents, and business owners who have supported its efforts this year to make downtown Norway vital, according to program manager Anne Campbell.

Many new programs are planned for the coming year. Staff and board members will be available to update party-goers on the plans. More information may be obtained by calling 739-2215.

Holiday party

RUMFORD – Oxford County Democrats will hold their annual holiday party beginning with a social hour at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at the Rumford Eagles Hall. A chicken stir fry dinner will follow, along with a program. Included will be a volunteer recognition for individuals who worked during the recent campaign. Reservations are required and must be made by Dec. 14. Reservations may be made by calling 364-7666 or 875-2116.
