BETHEL – A New Hampshire man was injured Wednesday morning when the pickup truck he was driving struck a utility pole beside Route 2 in West Bethel, police said.

Bethel Patrolman Phil Taylor said Peter Boucher, 56, of Berlin, N.H., was taken by Bethel Rescue to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin.

A hospital nursing supervisor said early Wednesday evening that Boucher, who was admitted for observation, suffered a fractured upper arm and was in fair condition.

Taylor said the road was dry at the time of the 9:55 a.m. crash near Pleasant River Motel.

“For some reason, he went across the road and collided with the pole, center-punching his truck,” Taylor said.

Gaudreau’s Repairs towed Boucher’s 1995 Dodge Dakota pickup. The utility pole was broken in two.
