NEW GLOUCESTER – Grace A. Merry, 60, of Intervale Road, died on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

She was born in Portland, the daughter of Horace J. and Thelma M. (Pugsley Spearin) McLellan and attended local schools, graduating from Windham High School, Class of 1962.

She was a homemaker most of her adult life, raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren. She also learned how to water-ski with her kids.

She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and participated in the 4H Club. Every week, she played duplicate bridge. She enjoyed bowling, listening to music and playing the organ. She loved to go dancing. She enjoyed spending time at camp on Nicatous Lake in Township 41, where she would ride 4-wheelers, pick blueberries, and watch her grandchildren swim.

Every year at Christmas, she would knit over 40 pairs of mittens for the children in the community.

She was past president of the Royal River Riders Snowmobile Club.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Luther F. Merry; sons, Todd A. Merry and his wife, Brenda, and Jeffrey S. Merry and his wife, Debra, all of New Gloucester; two brothers, Wesley McLellan of Windham, and Raymond McLellan of Yarmouth; two sisters, Ethel Oddi of Gray and Laura Rhodes of Windham; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
