LEWISTON – Reginald Dill “Reggie” Walker, 74, of Hartford, formerly of Farmington, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavillion, after a long 28-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

He was born March 30, 1930, in Industry, the son of Merrill and Elsie (Dill) Walker.

In 1947, he graduated from Farmington High School.

He was employed by Linwood York and his son L. Herbert (Bussie) York of Sandy River Farms in Farmington for more than 40 years. He also worked for Metcalf’s Mill of West Farmington and Fitch’s Lumber of Farmington. Due to illness, he retired from International Paper Co. in Jay in 1986 after working in the Shipping Department for 20 years.

He was a 50-year member of the Farmington Grange, a member of the Mosher Hill Mountain Viewers 4-H Club and was a Past President of the Bear Pond Association. He enjoyed being with his family and spending time at the family camp (home) on Bear Pond in Hartford.

He loved playing cards with his friends and hunting with Sam Baker, Woodrow, Jim Dodge, Malcolm and Merritt Averill in Madrid. He was a very intelligent, creative and kind man. He enjoyed traveling with his wife of 51 years, Jean Averill Walker and loved taking his kids to different places.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, of Hartford; four daughters, Cheryl Bunker and her husband, Stephan, of Farmington, Cindy Walker and life partner, Laurie Sevigny, of Norway, Penelope Hamel and her husband, Norris, of Turner, and Carla Walker and companion, Brian Hix, of Bear Pond; one grandson, Jordan C. Walker of Norway; two sisters, Julia Walker of Farmington, and Janette Savage and her husband, Martin, of Temple; one brother, Maurice Walker and his wife, Lillian, of Lewiston.

He was predeceased by a sister, Sylvia Friend.
