SOUTH PARIS – Ruby E. Kahkonen, 89, of South Paris, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, at Market Square Health Care Center.
She was born in South Paris on Aug. 22, 1915, the daughter of Harry Harrison and Eva Florence Allen Dudley.
She had been employed at Cornwall’s, Ledgeview Nursing Home and Goodwin’s Motel in the housekeeping departments.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her yard and doing wood. She loved to give May baskets. She enjoyed knitting and making pies for the Methodist Church in South Paris for the Kiwanis lunches.
She married Henry Kahkonen and he predeceased her on Dec. 29, 1986.
She is survived by two daughters; Peggy Goddard of Mechanic Falls, and Nancy Jerome of Hawthorne, Fla.; a son, William of South Paris; 27 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 28-great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Franti Giasson.
She was predeceased by a son, Robert; a sister, Beryl; and five brothers, Glenwood, Sherwood, Warren, Perron and Harry.
