FARMINGTON – The Healthy Community Coalition invites people in greater Franklin County to take advantage of free indoor walking sites around the county.
Each of the 14 walking sites opened as of Dec. 1 and will remain open until April 1, with a few sites remaining open year-round.
One of the newest additions to the list is the Mt. Blue High School indoor walking route. This route includes the hallways of the high school and Foster Tech Center, as well as some stair climbing. There is a map at the main entrance and along the route to show visitors where to walk.
Facilities listed below are available all days and times indicated, excluding school vacations and storm days. All walkers are advised to bring their walking shoes with them and to change into them once they arrive at the school. This will keep the floors clean and safe to walk on.
The HCC is still looking for walking site champions to be a liaison for the HCC at some of the walking sites. More information may be obtained by calling the number provided for the site or by calling Nate Morse at HCC at 1-800-525-3136, extension 5108. Indoor walking site schedules are available on the Internet at www.fchn.org/hcc, and outdoor walking opportunities are listed at www.healthymainewalks.org.
