LEWISTON – A Thursday afternoon crash on Lisbon Street damaged four vehicles, felled a light pole and Christmas decorations, and left a dent in the side of a downtown bar.
Minor injuries were reported in the 12:30 p.m. wreck, which caused more than $15,000 in damage.
Police said Donald P. Richardson, 39, of Lewiston, was driving down Lisbon Street when the driver of a vehicle in front him slowed suddenly for a pedestrian.
Richardson’s vehicle struck a Chevrolet driven by Michael V. Morrison, 38, of Auburn, and pushed that vehicle into two parked cars and the side of the South End Club.
One of the parked cars, meanwhile, was knocked into a light pole at the side of the street. The pole toppled, dragging Christmas decorations to the street.
Police directed traffic around the scene as fire and rescue crews responded to the area between Birch and Spruce streets.
Damage to Richardson’s 1987 Chevrolet was estimated at $100 and to Morrison’s 1993 Chevrolet, $3,500.
Damage to a parked car, a 1997 Mercury owned by Nancy C. Witherall, 65, of Leeds, was estimated at $2,000. Damage to a parked 2001 Chevrolet, owned by Gerald S. Michaud, 67, of Hebron, was estimated at $6,000.
Damage to the light pole was estimated at $2,500 and to the South End Club doorway, $1,000.
