LEWISTON – Carl Pittman Pulsifer, 84, of Poland, died Thursday, Dec. 16, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Poland, Dec. 17, 1919, the son of Clarence S. and Martha Davis Pulsifer. He attended school at the Bailey Hill Grammar School and Mechanic Falls High School.
He worked on the farm and ran a home garage before entering the United States Army during World War II. He was in England prior to participating in the first hours of D-Day at Omaha Beach with the infantry division.
Upon returning home, he married Madelyn Ames of Poland, and raised poultry on their farm. He then worked for Paris Manufacturing Co. until they closed. He then went to work for Kenneth Johnson as a carpenter until he retired.
In his retirement years, he enjoyed gardening, camping and family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years; two sisters, Annie Gary of Poland, and Marion Rowe of New Gloucester; two daughters and their husbands, Debra and Daniel Boyd and Sandra and Chris Robbins, two grandsons, Nathan Robbins and his fiancee, Melissa, Cilley, and Jason Boyd and his wife, Jennifer, three granddaughters, Heather and Amy Robbins, and Sarah Boyd; and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Daniel Boyd, all of Poland.
He was predeceased by a brother, Erland; and his parents.
