• Dec. 16, 1:40 p.m. – A Rumford Community Home employee reported a theft of cash.

• Dec. 13 – A Hartford Street resident reported the theft of prescription medications.

• Dec. 13 – An Ellis River Road resident reported a possible scam, but an investigation into the telephone solicitation of funds for a magic show determined it was a legitimate event. Detective Sgt. Stacy Carter said that an area firefighters relief organization is to have a magic show.

• Dec. 13 – A Highland Terrace resident in Mexico reported that her child had been threatened at SAD 43’s Mountain Valley Middle School. The case was turned over to Mexico Police Chief James Theriault.

• Dec. 12, 6:59 p.m. – A car driven by Kelly Blanchard, 24, of Rumford, collided with a deer on Route 2. Damage to the 1997 Hyundai was estimated at $4,500; Dan’s Automotive towed it away. The crash report did not say what happened to the deer.

Arrests

All of the following are to be arraigned on Feb. 1 in Rumford District Court:

• Leon Lowell, 27, of Rumford, on a warrant for failure to appear on a charge of operating after suspension, at 2:15 p.m. Dec. 13 on Forest Avenue. He was released on $400 cash bail.

• A 17-year-old Mexico boy, on a probation violation, at 5 a.m. Dec. 11 on Maine Avenue. He was taken to Oxford County Jail in Paris.
