The business decorating winners are: first place, The Maine Press, and second place, State Farm Insurance.

Story time on hiatus

RUMFORD – There will be no preschool story time for children ages 2 through 5 at the Public Library during the Christmas holidays. Story time will resume Wednesday, Jan. 12.

Story times for area preschoolers include stories, songs, finger plays and crafts appropriate to the story’s theme. More information may be obtained by calling the library at 364-3661.

Clinics for Nordic skiers

RUMFORD – Ashley Arsenault, a former high school Nordic skier from Mountain Valley, is at Black Mountain for winter break, giving clinics for groups and individuals. People of all ages and abilities are welcome, especially first-time Nordic skiers.

Rental skis are available. The cost per day, which includes rental, lesson and a trail ticket, is $25 per day, or three days for $60.

The lessons are available in the morning, from 9 a.m. to noon.
