LISBON – Courtney Barrett netted 12 points Tuesday evening to pace Monmouth to a 47-17 romp over Lisbon in a MVC girls’ basketball action.
Jill Armstrong chipped in for the Mustangs (1-3) with 11 points, while Brittany Scirica added seven. Monmouth held a 22-6 lead at the half and was never seriously challenged.
Soliel Matieu led the Greyhounds (0-3) with a five-point performance, while sister Gabrielle added four. Lisbon was simply overpowered from the opening tip-off and never really recovered.
Dirigo 33, Jay 31
DIXFIELD – Michelle Holmquist scored on an inbound pass with 9.4 seconds left to lift Dirigo to a 33-31 victory over Jay in an MVC girls’ basketball game Tuesday evening.
Alexa Kaubris led the Cougars (4-0) with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Holmquist ended up with 11. Brooke Weston added five. The win extended the Dirigo’s win streak to 107 games.
Kaylie DeMillo led the Tigers with a 17-point performance. Jay came the closest to ending Dirigo’s streak as any opponent in recent memory.
Rangeley 65, Valley 38
BINGHAM – Krysteen Romero poured in 15 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, leading Rangeley to a 65-38 triumph over Valley in EWC basketball action Tuesday.
Rosie LaPointe added 14 points, seven assists, and two steals for the Lakers (4-0), while Justine Frost-Kolva and Nicole Crupi each added 11 points a piece.
The Cavaliers’ (2-2) effort was paced by Kristin Baker with a game-high 21 points, which included three 3-pointers.
Mt. Abram 74, Carrabec 35
SALEM — Emily Stinchfield led all scorers as she put up 17 points for Mt. Abram in its 74-35 defeat over Carrabec in girls’ basketball Tuesday.
Katie Walker contributed to the Roadrunners’ (2-1) victory with 16 points and six rebounds. Lynn Plogg kept the pace defensively with seven steals.
Kasey Keldro scored 11 points for the Cobras (0-3).
Mountain Valley 51, Liv. Falls 38
RUMFORD – Mountain Valley went on a 13-0 run to start the fourth quarter and pulled away to claim a 51-38 win over Livermore Falls in a MVC girls’ basketball matchup.
Kristin Arsenault poured in 29 points Tuesday to lead the Falcons (2-2), while Devon Allen and Kim Clark made key free-throws late in the game to seal the win.
Taryn Flagg led the Andies (0-4) with a respectable 14-point performance, while Lacey Hazelton added 10. The Falcons held a 24-17 advantage at the half, then hit high gear as the fourth quarter got under way.
Mt. Blue 47, Gardiner 27
GARDINER – Amanda Laney downed 14 points, all in the first half, to help Mt. Blue capture a 47-27 win over Gardiner Tuesday in girls’ basketball.
Ashley Weeks stepped up in the second half and scored all 11 of her points for the Cougars (2-0).
The scoring for Gardiner (0-2) was spread out, with Britney Salley netting the most at seven points.
Oxford Hills 60, Leavitt 28
TURNER — Bri Thompson scored 10 points to help lead Oxford Hills to a 60-28 win over Leavitt in a KVAC basketball matchup on Tuesday.
Annie Foster also scored 10 points for the Vikings (2-0) while Katie Pelletier added nine.
Bethany Burgess set the pace for the Hornets (0-2), scoring eight points.
