FARMINGTON – Ronald Martz Jr. is wondering if someone stole his wheelchair.

The last time the wheelchair was seen, Martz was lying on the ground unconscious after he and the chair collided with a car on Main Street in downtown Farmington. That was Dec. 15. A photo shows that the chair had been pushed near the sidewalk in front of Kyes Insurance Building after the collision.

Martz, 37, who was born with spina bifida, said Wednesday he was knocked unconscious in the accident and stayed that way for 24 hours.

“I had a bad concussion,” Martz said.

People looking for his lightweight, manual wheelchair have checked with police, the ambulance service, the University of Maine at Farmington where he was a student, and businesses on Main Street, all with no luck.

Martz said the wheelchair has dark blue metal on the arm rests, handle bars and back, and the black fabric on the seat and back. The chair is a little more than a year old, he said.

With no wheelchair, Martz said, he gets around by crawling.

Anyone with information about the wheelchair may call Martz at 778-3702.
