LEWISTON – Grace E. Welch, 96, a former resident of Pond Road, died early Wednesday, Dec. 22, at d’Youville Pavilion, where she had been at patient for the last three years.

Born in Lewiston June 13, 1908, she was the daughter of Gedeon and Philomene Samson Parent, and was educated in Lewiston schools.

In the late 1930s, she married Leander Welch. He died Sept. 13, 1967.

Mrs. Welch was employed for many years at the John Mosher Distillery, later Lewiston Distillery Co., and retired in 1973.

She was a member of Holy Family Parish.

She was very proud of her home and worked very hard at taking care of it. She enjoyed traveling locally to visit family and friends, and also enjoyed playing cards.

She read the newspaper cover to cover for many, many years, being very interested in current events.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
