RUMFORD – Black Mountain will offer Nordic skiing lessons from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday, Dec. 26 to 29, and Tuesday through Saturday, Jan. 4 to 8, at the Isthmus Road ski area for children ages 3 to 12. Lessons cost $15 per day or $30 fore buy three days, including rental, lesson and trail ticket. Programs may include technique, stamina and ability.
Adult clinic
RUMFORD – Black Mountain is offering a ski touring clinic for adults 55 and older from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Wednesday, Dec. 27 and 29, and Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, Jan. 4, 6 and 8. The $25 cost per day or $60 for three days includes rental, lesson and trail ticket. For information call 364-8977.
Bridge work
ANDOVER – Drivers using Route 120 should allow extra time beginning on Monday, Dec. 27, according to the Maine Department of Transportation. Crews will be working on Black Brook Bridge, which carries Route 120 over Black Brook about a mile west of the Roxbury-Andover town line. The existing bridge rails will be removed and replaced and the bridge made wider by two feet. During the construction, the road will be restricted to alternating one-way traffic, with signs warning motorists as they approach the bridge.
Volunteers sought
RUMFORD – Black Mountain of Maine is seeking four volunteers to help with its cross-country skiing and snowshoeing Oxford County ARC program. Black Mountain supplies equipment and training is set for 12 noon to 2 p.m.Wednesday, Dec. 29 and Tuesdays, Jan. 4 and 11, at the mountain. Call Terrie Anne Bennett at 364-8977 for more information.
