PORTLAND – Julie Ann Bernier and Jay Michael Champagne were united in marriage in a formal wedding ceremony at 2 p.m. on Oct. 9 at St. Joseph’s Church in Portland. The Rev. Don Bosco officiated at the ceremony.

Mrs. Champagne is the daughter of David and Karen Bernier of Lewiston. Mr. Champagne is the son of Rene and Janine Champagne of Auburn.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an embroidered white strapless satin gown with A-line skirt with long matching train. She carried a bouquet of champagne roses, burgundy lilies, viburnum berries, rosemary and ivy.

The bride’s sister, Rebecca Branagan, attended as matron of honor, along with Jenny Lee. Bridesmaids were Michelle Blouin, Michelle Stone and Jenn Szydlo. Amy Boily did the readings.

Colin Leonard and Rob Champagne, brother of the bridegroom, shared the duties of best man and ushers were Michael Clements, Darren Hicks and Aaron Stone.

The ocean-side reception took place at the Peter A. McKernan Hospitality Center in South Portland. Following the reception, the couple left on a honeymoon trip to Playa del Carmen in Mexico.

The bride is a 1994 graduate of Lewiston High School and a 1998 graduate of Stonehill College in North Easton, Mass. She is currently employed at Diversified Communications in Portland.

The bridegroom is a 1995 graduate of Edward Little High School and a 1999 graduate of Full Sail Center for the Recording Arts in Orlando, Fla. He is self-employed.

The couple is residing in Auburn.
