LEWISTON – Central Maine Medical Center has upgraded the condition of a pedestrian who had been struck by a car to fair.

Lewiston police reported that Earl Tibbits, 50, was struck as he crossed Sabattus Street toward the Pizza Hut. The accident happened in the 800 block, near Tibbits’ home at 7:55 p.m., Wednesday.

A nursing supervisor at CMMC reported that Tibbits was in fair condition Saturday night.

According to the police report, he struck the windshield of the 1991 Toyota that hit him, and sustained a head injury.

Police identified the driver of the Toyota as Michael T. Carrie, 45, of Randolph. Police reported that he was headed toward Gardiner after a Christmas shopping trip and attempted to stop when he saw Tibbits in the road, but skidded.
