AVON – A fund has been started for Cyrus and Mary Bachelder, who lost their home and belongings to fire Dec. 18.

People in Avon set up the fund at UnitedKingfield Bank after learning the couple had no insurance.

The Bachelders’ mobile home on Avon Valley Road was destroyed in the blaze. The couple is now sleeping above their garage.

On the day of the fire, the Bachelders were in the garage when they noticed their home was on fire.

Anyone wishing to donate to the couple may write a check to the Bachelder Fire Fund and drop it off at the bank or mail it to UnitedKingfield Bank, 124 Main St., Phillips, ME 04966.
