WILTON – State police have received calls and e-mails after Raymond “Butch” Weed’s family increased the reward for information leading to a conviction in his slaying.
“We have received about a half-dozen calls/e-mails combined after the story of the increased reward first broke a couple weeks ago, but nothing since,” state police Detective Walter Grzyb said in an e-mail Tuesday. “We have and will continue to follow up on those responses.”
The family raised the reward from $10,000 to $25,000 earlier this month.
Weed, 40, was found shot to death in his Wilton home on Dec. 23, 2003.
About 50 people turned out for a candlelight vigil in downtown Wilton last week despite the rainy, windy weather on the one-year anniversary.
