BETHEL – Neil Davis Gilbert, 51, of West Bethel, died Tuesday, Dec. 28.

He was born in Rumford on Sept. 21, 1953, the son of Randall H. and Elizabeth (Davis) Gilbert.

He had worked at Newton & Tibbetts Inc., for Arthur Head in the woods for many years, as a truck driver for Pike Industries, truck driver for Bear Paw Timber and was employed with Red Oak at the time of his death.

He enjoyed spending time with family, camping, hunting, fishing, reading, and was an avid gun collector with a wealth of knowledge of guns.

He was a member of S.A.M. and an endowment member of the N.R.A.

He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Gilbert, of West Bethel; brothers, Glenn Gilbert and his wife, Della, of Holden, Mo., Scott Gilbert of South Paris, and Brent Gilbert and his wife, Mary, of West Bethel; sisters, Arlynn Hale and her husband, David, of West Bethel, Cheryl Ramsey and her companion, David Leland, of Waterford, and Carol Crockett and her companion, Bill Sawyer, of Bethel; one son, Travis of West Bethel; Neil’s companion, Phoebe Hanna, and her children, Adam, Paul and Rebecca, all of Mexico; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Randal Gilbert, in November 2002.
