POLAND – Three people were hurt in a late afternoon crash on Route 26 Tuesday and police were searching for witnesses a day later.

Derek Lavoie, 24, of Mechanic Falls, suffered broken bones in the 5:30 p.m. wreck, investigators said. His car collided with another driven by Anne Maurice, 52, of New Gloucester.

Maurice and a passenger in her car were each treated at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston and later released. Lavoie was listed in fair condition at CMMC on Wednesday.

Both vehicles were destroyed in the collision at Routes 26 and 122, police said.

On Wednesday, Androscoggin County sheriff’s officials were searching for anyone who witnessed the collision.

“There are still some questions about exactly what happened,” said Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Detective Rielly Bryant.

They are asking that anyone with information phone the Sheriff’s Department at 784-7361, extension 220.
