BOWDOIN – Jack A. Rogers, 87, of Turkey Trot Lane, and longtime resident of Jolly Roger Lane, Orr’s Island, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, at his Bowdoin home, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Born in Karney’s Point, N.J., June 7, 1917, the son of Walter H. and Arleen Jack Rogers, he graduated from Brunswick High School and Maine Central Institute. He later graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in engineering and business administration and the University of Connecticut with a degree in agency management.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

He married Geraldine C. Miller on June 5, 1946. They lived in Lisbon Falls from 1961 until 1986.

He was district manager of Equitable Life Assurance Society for 10 years, past president of the Rogers’ Insurance and Real Estate Agency in Lisbon Falls, former chairman and commissioner for four years of the Maine Real Estate Commission, certified Maine real estate appraiser, and was a Dedimus Justice and notary public.

He was a member of the United Lodge of Masons AF & AM, past president of the Lewiston/Auburn Junior Chamber of Commerce, past president and secretary of the Lisbon Rotary Club, board of directors of Maine Mutual Fire Insurance Company, institutional representative for the Boy Scouts of America for ten years, board of directors of the Tri-County Health for three years and former member of Lisbon Falls American Legion Post.

Besides his wife of Bowdoin, he is survived by a son, Richard W. Rogers, of Bingham; three daughters, Linda Rogers Bailey of Grand Lake Stream, Mrs. Mark (Brenda) Rogers of Bowdoin, and Jacqueline A. Whisenant of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, William S. Rogers; and a sister, Ardell Johnson.
