TOGUS – Blaine Deojay, 62, a resident of Fayette, died Friday, Dec. 31, at the Maine Veterans Hospital in Togus following a long illness.

He was born in Lewiston on Sept. 4, 1942, the son of Linwood and Helen Morrison Deojay. He attended Edward Little High School in Auburn.

He served 20 years in the U.S. Navy, enlisting in 1959, receiving many ribbons and awards, including a combat medal with two bronze stars. He was also an instructor while in the Navy for the SERE School.

On Nov. 30, 1968, he married Brenda Boutilier Hennessy and made their home in California before moving back to Maine.

He retired from the military on Sept. 19, 1978. After serving 20 years in the Navy, he attended Cypress Junior College in Cypress, Calif.

He was a member of the MHHA, the Maine State Harness Association, and the United States Trotting Association, a life member of the VFW, Frank L. Mitchell, Post 3335 of Jay, a member of the New Norland Grange, Good Sam Camping Association – Western Mt. – RV’Rs, and the Fayette Recreation Committee for 10 years.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda, of Fayette; five sons, Patrick Hennessy and his wife, Julie, of Chino, Calif., Sean Hennessy and his wife, Mary, of Whitefield, Daniel Hennessy of Fayette, Kerry Hennessy of Old Orchard Beach, and Blaine Deojay of Arcata, Calif.; three very special grandchildren, Marissa, Ashley and Joshua Hennessy of Chino, Calif.; two sisters, June LaPointe and her husband, Wilfred, of Auburn, and Doris Sapovic of Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, Earl Deojay and his wife, Candi, of Manchester, and Thomas Deojay and his wife, Mary, of Mechanic Falls; a step-brother, Gerald Deojay of Pennsylvania; two cousins, Joyce Hodgman and her husband, Kenneth, of Norway, and Alfred and Elaine Morrison of Poland; and several loving nieces and nephews.

In recent years, he was reunited with his childhood friend, Raymond Gosselin, a neighbor in Fayette.
