LEWISTON – Arthur J. Doustout, 73, of 158 Russell St., Lewiston, died Saturday, Jan. 1, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center after a long illness.

Born in Blue River, N.B., Canada, on Jan. 11, 1931, he was the son of Onezime and Sarah Soucy Doustou.

Prior to his retirement he was a heavy equipment operator for various construction companies including Lewiston Crushed Stone and W.H. Cloutier.

He was a parishioner of Holy Family Church, and a member of the Midtown Social Club.

He is survived by his wife, the former Diane Spencer, of Lewiston; one son, Mark and his wife, Sonia Doustout, of Auburn; three daughters, Patricia and Rochelle Doustout, both of Lewiston, and Christine and her husband, Spencer Peterson, of Mechanic Falls; three brothers, Wilfred, Louis, and Raymond Doustou, all of Lewiston; two sisters, Irene Cavanaugh and Rose Doustou, both of Richmond, Va.; three grandchildren, Roddy, Danielle and Mark Doustout; one great-granddaughter, Sonia Doustout; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Roger Doustou.
