SOUTH PARIS – Paul G. Samson, 79, of South Paris, died Sunday morning, Jan. 2, at Market Square Health Care Center.

He was born in Lewiston, June 29, 1925, the son of Ernest and Aurilie Dostie Samson.

He attended school in Lewiston and faithfully served his country aboard the USS Thuban and USS Doyen in the Navy during World War II.

He had worked in the shoe shops of Lewiston and Wilner Wood Products in South Paris.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 22, former member of the VFW Post 1602.

He was an avid hunter. He enjoyed race horses and, over the years, had owned several.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha McAlister Samson, of South Paris; a daughter, Sandra Joly of Lewiston; a sister, Georgette Jalbert of Lewiston; four grandsons, Stephen, Kevin, Donald and Michael; two great-granddaughters, Aaron and Sarah; a step-son, William Merrill of South Paris; four step-grandchildren, Lori-Jo, Edward, Christopher and Justin; four step-great-grandchildren, Mercedes, Cloe, Brianna and Savannah.
