LEWISTON – The condition of a Rangeley man involved in an accident Dec. 23 in Phillips has been upgraded to serious, a hospital spokeswoman said.
George Adams, 76, had been driving north on Route 4 two days before Christmas when his Dodge Caravan apparently drifted over the center line and into oncoming traffic.
A pickup truck driver was unable to stop in time to avoid a collision, police said.
Adams was trapped in his vehicle for more than 40 minutes before he was able to be freed by rescuers.
He suffered a broken leg, cuts and possible internal injuries, police said at the time.
Adams had been listed in critical condition and was recently upgraded to serious condition at Central Maine Medical Center, a spokeswoman said Monday.
