LISBON FALLS – Doris Babbidge, worthy matron of Pioneer Chapter 11, Order of the Eastern Star, chose as one of her service projects friends and neighbors who are serving overseas.
A list of frequently requested items was obtained from a Masonic member serving in Iraq. Using the list as a guideline, chapter members collected items and money to fund the postage.
Sending packages to soldiers overseas has become more complex due to 9/11. A committee of Katie Palmer, Sally Wentworth and Norm Palmer undertook the task of packaging the collected items and assuring they went to the designated soldiers.
Pioneer Chapter solicited members of the community for names of individuals serving overseas. All members of Pioneer Chapter sent wishes for a safe return for friend and neighbor serving overseas.
