LEWISTON – Jane M. St. Peter, 78, of Lewiston, died Sunday, Jan. 2, at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion where she resided for the past two years.

Born in West Gardiner, Oct. 16, 1926, a daughter of George A. and Katherine M. Violette Carter and was educated in Gardiner schools. She worked at W.T. Grant for several years and retired from the local shoe industry.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish, the Ladies of Sodality Rosary and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Clothing Store for several years.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, taking long walks and visiting family.

She is survived by a daughter, Rosemary (Kit) Drouin of Lewiston; two sons, John of Lewiston, Wilfred of Louisiana; her grandchildren, Matthew Drouin, Kerry Taff, Cindy Blais, Shirley Markland, Robert Belisle, Christa Shane, Rebecca Richard, Audrey Todd, Faith St. Peter, Gabriel St. Peter, Jason St. Peter, Christopher Ames and Shawn Ames; her great-grandchildren, Michelle, Madelyn, Dustin, Kylie, Taylor, Mataia, Dolan, Ryan, Leah, Ashley, Cari, Caley, Christopher Jr.; sister, Thelma Duperry of California; a brother, Joseph Carter and his wife, Josephine, of Hartford, Conn.

She was predeceased by a son James St. Peter; a great-grandson, Devon Taff; and a brother, Wilfred Carter.
