BRYANT POND – June Wallen Demarest, 78, of Bryant Pond, died Jan. 3.

She was born in Hartford, Conn., on June 17, 1926, the daughter of Theodore and Gladys (Thomas) Wallen and was educated in local schools, graduating from New Britain High School in 1944 and attending Vermont Junior College.

She had worked as a secretary at a Methodist Church in New Britain, Conn., for a few years and was a homemaker most of her life.

She married Donald C. Demarest from Plainville, Conn., on June 12, 1948 and had been married for 56 years.

They were partners in “Hi-Vi Farm” in Bryant Pond for 18 years.

She enjoyed growing flowers and canning vegetables and belonged to the Extension group of Bryant Pond. She also enjoyed playing bridge.

She is survived by her husband, Donald, of Bryant Pond; three sons, Thomas of West Paris, David of Kingman Arizona, and Peter of Bryant Pond; one sister, Virginia Kayser of Middletown, Conn.; and four grandchildren, Melanie, Jennifer, Heather and Bill.
