Dear Sun Spots: The Lewiston High School Alumni Foundation has received a generous donation of many old yearbooks from Lewiston High School. The years we have are 2004, 2000*, 1999, 1998, 1997, 1993, 1992, 1991, 1990*, 1986*, 1969*, 1962*, 1959*, 1953* and 1949*. The years with the asterisks denote a limited supply available.

If you or someone you know has lost a yearbook or you would like to give the gift of high school memories, please call me at (207) 784-2076 to make arrangements. A donation would be greatly appreciated to help us continue our scholarship tradition for the Class of 2005 and beyond. All donations are tax deductible and help a great cause. – John T. Butler Jr., No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: I am looking for a doll of the Mad Hatter from the “Alice in Wonderland” story by Lewis Carroll, and for any other dolls from that story. I am also looking for the very creative woman from Auburn who makes dolls to cover air fresheners and other dolls, and sells them at the fall Maine craft fairs. She is very talented. I’ve lost her name and would like to contact her. I can be reached at (207) 783-7553. Thank you. – Richard, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: You have helped me before and I hope you can help me again. I have lost the recipe for deviled eggs that was sent in by one of your nice readers who send in recipes. I will be looking for your answer. Thank you. – No Name, Buckfield.

Answer: The following recipe is from the Friday, Feb., 21, 2003, Sun Spots column:

Sun Spots hopes you and your family enjoy the following recipe for Devilishly Delicious Deviled Eggs posted online at www.mochasofa.ca/food/program/articles/01september24b.asp and by The Canadian Living Test Kitchen.

Ingredients: 12 eggs, ¼ cup light mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons plain yogurt, 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard, ¼ teaspoon salt, pinch of pepper. For garnish: 2 ounces thinly sliced smoked salmon cut into strips or 2 tablespoons of fish roe, and fresh dill sprigs. Method: Arrange eggs in a single layer in a large deep saucepan; pour in enough cold water to be one inch above eggs. Cover and bring to boil over high heat. Immediately remove from heat; let stand, covered for 20 minutes. Drain and transfer to bowl; cover with cold water and let stand until cold, changing water as necessary. Drain (if made ahead, can refrigerate for up to two days).

Gently tap eggs on counter to crack shells all over; peel off shells. Cut eggs in half lengthwise; scoop yolks into bowl. Set whites on serving platter; cover and set aside. Using fork, mash together egg yolks, mayonnaise, yogurt, Dijon mustard, salt and pepper. Fit small opening of pastry bag with one-inch star tip. Fold edge of large opening over hand to form cuff. Spoon egg mixture into bag close to the tip. Unfold cuff of bag; twist over filling. Using one hand at twist and other at tip to guide, gently squeeze egg mixture into whites. (Or, alternatively, spoon mixture into whites.) Garnish by arranging strips of smoked salmon on center of each deviled egg. Top with dill sprig.

Dear Sun Spots: Our special ed class is in need of a the following items that budget can’t cover: a small under-the-counter refrigerator, a set of bookshelves or a tall cabinet, games, books that 13-year-olds would enjoy, big pouffy floor pillows or beanbag cushions. If you are cleaning out after Christmas and have any of these items, please give me a call. I can be reached at (207) 336-2151, ask for extension 201. Thanks so much for sharing through the years, I’ve seen Sun Spots readers come through again and again! – Sue Bryant, Buckfield.
