LEWISTON – The Franco-American Heritage Center at St. Mary’s will hold its first gathering of the new year on Friday, Jan. 7, when La Rencontre meets. The members get together every first Friday of the month to celebrate their heritage and to speak their native language French for an hour and a half.
Anyone wishing to attend La Rencontre is welcome to join the group. The price is $6.50 a person and includes a full course meal as well as a program of French entertainment.
The entertainment for January will be the D & D Dancers dancing to French music. The group includes Jackie Lajoie, Frank Clabbe, Yvette Leblanc, Claire LeVasseur, Aliette Couturier, Adrienne Desrocher, Gisele Perreault, Maddy Campbell, Dolly Jones, Fern Brochu, Toni Mathieu, Joyce Vallerand, Pauline Rashall, Georgette Morin, Denise Hebert, Jeanne Plourde, Claire Gagne, Terry Harris, Lorraine Young, Jackie Ouellette, Leola Gendreau, Babe Lowit, Lorena Desjardins, Collette LeClair, Cecile Daniels, Helen Cloutier, Joanne Lavoie, Dolly Mottram, Anita Dulac and Tania Whittier.
The meal will be provided by Rolly’s Diner and will be a full course, baked ham dinner.
