LEWISTON – Joseph C. Chesnel Jr., 34, of Stevens Mill Park Road Auburn, formerly of Houlton, died unexpectedly, Jan. 3, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born in Lewiston, on May 4, 1970, the son of Joseph C. and Barbara (Johnson) Chesnel Sr. In Houlton. He worked at area potato farms, the maintenance department at Houlton Regional Hospital, and in Auburn, he worked at Morin Brickyard, VIP, and for five years at Redlon & Johnson until he became disabled. On Dec. 13, 1990 he married the former Christiane Gehmann, in Houlton.

He was very supportive of his son’s sporting activities. He enjoyed coaching baseball, and football, walking his dog Ginger, as well as fishing, the ocean, and cooking. He was a big Red Sox, and Patriots Fan. He was the best Dad, and Husband in the world.

Survivors include his wife, Christiane; one son, Nico; his mother, Barbara Thibodeau; three brothers, Roger Bowdoin, Scott Bowdoin, and Brad Chesnel; one sister, Carla Wight; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was predeceased by a stepfather, Larry Thibodeau.
